TV needs to go back to 1964

The TV series of the 1960"s Daniel Boone starring Fess Parker, is the childrens favorite show. We do not have "regular" TV, but a service called SkyAngel, it is a Christian TV provider, and this show is on at 4 p.m. most weekdays. It is a show that was made when moral values in this country we live in, were not degraded to the degree they are these days.
The children on the series show respect to their parents, unlike on TV today. The parents show unabashed love for their children, not ambivalence towards them, unlike on TV today. Both Daniel Boone and or his wife are shown giving their 5 or 6 year old son a kiss on the mouth and a hug many times throughout these episodes, and it is a refreshing show of love between a boy and his Daddy or Momma, unlike TV today. My wife and I still hold our childrens hands and kiss them ( both the boys and girls) all the time, and will continue untill they won"t let us anymore. On TV today, the only time we see that would be in the context of a two gay men doing such. The people on Daniel Boone also show pride to be a citizen of the republic which they live in, unlike on TV today.

Most importantly almost every show Scripture is read or quoted in a honoring light, unlike TV today. On the last episode we watched, which must have been the Christmas offering from the series during the 1965 season. It was set during a blizzard a few day before Christmas, and an Indian chief's son, and his very pregnant wife made it to the fort, and in a storyline parallel to our Saviors birth, there was no room at the inn, and they put them up in a stable. Many things happen in the story and I won"t give them away in case one of you all might want to watch it, but one part in particular that my wife and I rewound a few times to see it again. An angry man was complaining that they were going to starve in the fort if they brought these other people in during this blizzard, as their food supply was getting low. As the man was complaining to Daniel and to the many others standing around, the innkeeper said I just caught two fish this morning. The angry man said to Daniel sarcastically," Great, we have 3 fish and 3 loaves of bread, you can bless them and we can all eat." Daniel grabbed the man by his coat lapels and said, " Listen, all we have is hope and prayer, and I will not stand for blasphemy!" Then me pushed the man backwards and let go of him.

The reason we rewound it again and again was because Daniel so boldly stood up for the Word of God and jumped all over this man and sternly told him that blasphemy in any form, or even the hint of it would in no way be tolerated. That is never seen on TV today, it is usually the opposite, usually blasphemy is glamorized, which is sickening. We explained to the children what blasphemy was and why Daniel said what he said to that man.

The Tv and movie makers at large do not show people strongly upholding the Word of God these days unless the movie is about one of the apostles or Jesus Himself. Just over 40 years ago it was still acceptable to show someone on television standing up for the Word of God. Today the people behind TV would have us to think that does not happen anymore, and or, that showing someone in that manner is not tolerant to others whom might not be Believers, or that we Christians are just fools. They are very wrong and decieved, and hopefully they will see The Light someday........

We think it is wonderful and powerful, to see people take this stand, more importantly, we think it is crucial for our children to see it in others outside of our home.

If you do not have Skyangel, or can not get it, you can purchase the whole Daniel Boone series from 1964 on, at many of the Christian book stores or Christian book wholesalers---get them, you will not regret it.

A Childs Wisdom

When our son Zeke was about 3 and a half years old, I was speaking with him one day and said," Zeke, did you know Jesus was a carpenter?" Zeke matter of factly said, "Yes daddy,"

"Jesus builds people."

The teacher became the student, I was the one whom went away to ponder, what my 3 1/2 year old had said.

Evening/Morning

So the evening and the morning were called the first day. Genesis 1:5

100TH POST------AND I HAVE GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I read in a magazine article this past weekend, some exciting news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been trying to explain this to my family for years, and now I have proof!
Written by a writer from either( Time or Newsweek, I forgot which, but they are the same magazine anyway.)
Some genius scientist was explaining his theory of how we evolved from fish, and it is basically like turning a VW Beetle into a Hotrod............Oh, really?

Well, using the same school of deduction, I have deducted that the reason I can barely swim, and others in my family are great swimmers, is that I am much more evolved than they, therefore much more intelligent than them!! All these years I new there must be some reason, But I never realized it was this profound. And all this time I thought evolution was a lie...That is it for today, I need to call Ken Ham at Answers in Genesis...................

The Foundation of Christian homeschooling

Knowledge----We homeschool to present the most important Knowledge ever, to our children.

Hosea 4:6, tells us, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." Lack of knowledge about many things out there can harm certain individuals. i.e.-- not knowing a train is coming down the tracks as you are standing in the middle of them can most assuredly hurt you.

But the Lord tells us," MY PEOPLE." Everyone whom ever was, or is, or will be are His people.
So He tells us that every created being for all time, without the knowledge of Him, i.e.----- a covenant relationship with Him, is destroyed. Destroyed during our time on this planet because of our lack of relationship with Him, and all that being apart from God brings, and destroyed eternally after this life here is over.

The Foundation, The Rock, the most important knowledge we will ever put before our children, the most important knowledge to all of mankind---------Knowledge of The Lord our God.

As it says in Proverbs 1:7, The Fear of The Lord is the beginning of knowledge, fools despise wisdom and instruction.

We thank The Lord for the blessing of homeschooling.

Another reason why I need Him.

Sin is stronger than willpower

If I rely on my own power, wisdom, might, sin will chew me up, and spit out the pieces it don"t like.

Only by placing my total faith in the finished work of Jesus on the cross of Calvary, which paid my sin debt, but also gives me victory over sin today , can I battle with sin and still be standing afterwards.

I---- can not fight sin,.... I can only follow Jesus. Keeping my eyes on Him, staying right behind Him, he knocks down the path, I just walk in His footsteps..

We have lots of briar patches on the farm, I take our little ones out there on occasion, to go exploring. If my 5 year old daughter goes into them with me, she stays right behind me, touching me , basically with her arms wrapped around me. In that order, she is fine, I have heavy cotton overalls on that the long briar thorns cannot pierce, and I move all the thorns away that would cut her to pieces.
If for some reason she sees a rabbit off to the side and runs off after it, she gets ripped up, and also stuck in the middle of that briar patch and cannot get out safely on her own. She has to call me to come and get her, and if she follows me as she should, she will make it out, albeit, with a painful lesson learned.

I have tried to make my own path in the briars in the past,...................I like it much better when I take the path Jesus cleared for me on a cross 2000 years ago.

For He delights in these.....................

Thus says the LORD, "Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts, boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things, " declares the LORD.

How many races does this world contain?

After extensive homeschool study and countless hours of scouring all available resources, by many top scholars in every worldly science subject known to man and finding no logical or reasonable answers, we here at the Christian healthy homeshoolers center for research and development (development of Godly children), have concluded from the word of God that we all came from one man and woman.

The numbers then, of races in this world we live in is-------2

Their names----------- 1. saved
2. unsaved

How to Choose the President

The next president of this country, will be.................. whomever gets elected. There are some I would like to have as the next president, some I think would be better off in jail,.....but I will cast my vote of those left standing after the primary voting, based on the whom I feel will cause me the least explaining to do when I stand before The Lord some blessed day in the future.

I know by His word He does not like sodomy, He does not like, abortion (murder), lying, idolatry, any marriage outside of His ideal of it (man plus woman),all the other commandment, and other things contrary to His teachings. Now we all, and all the candidates have transgressed some of these and others ourselves.

But knowing what God likes and does not like, I must choose whomever, as a whole, from my choises available, will, as I said above, causes me to do the least explaining to my Lord.

Every year though things get a little worse, someday the choise with the least explaining behind it, might be to make no choise at all.----Or we Christians really need to get in the game and get our own candidates ready and not let the 2 parties in this country choose them for us.-----best case senario-----Jesus comes back real soon.

Summer school-yes, no,--------maybe?

While the thought of three or so months of no studies probably seems like a great idea to the kids, we have decided this year to keep a few studies going throughout the summer to keep the rust off of a few of the little ones skills.

We will not have the every day routine school days, we will be keeping up with math with the children. Last year we did not do any formal studies at all throughout the summer. When we started up this fall, math was very rusty with our 5 and 8 year olds, and it took a good few months to catch back up to where we wanted to be.

The kids reads all the time on their own, so reading is not a problem.

So for this family, it seems we will be homeschooling all year long to some degree-------which means my cobwebs won"t be as bad either.

Worlds Fire

"They have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which I did not command, and it did not come into My mind." Jeremiah 7:31

They people of Topeheth actually burned (in fire) as sacrifices their own children. They obviously knew not The Lord. The farther we get from Him the more insane and evil life around us becomes. As God said, "which I did not command, and it did not come into My mind." These people must have thought this was actually somehow pleasing to God, as His statement above expresses.

In this family we make it a point not to sacrifice our children in the" fire of this world we live in " The secular world sacrifices its children to the seemily harmless, yet underlyingly evil devices of the times, and also the downright blatently evil. Which, either way, for many will someday lead them to a real fire, the lake of fire John writes of in the book of Revelation.

We do not want to face The Lord someday and have Him say about our choises as parents: What were you thinking when you showed, and taught, and let your children do those things, "which I did not command, and it did not come into My mind."

Running Bear

He loves his tomahawk! We went out to get wood and Zeke, ran over to a wooden fence post and with a loud----Thwack!!!---- he stuck it right in the side of it, and turned around with a great smile on his face. He now carries it everywhere.

P.s. Fellow homeschoolers why do we homeschool----bottom line is we want the best for our children. Homeschoolings is the best, and there is no second place in this race.----watching the news the last few days concretes that in our minds.

Coincidences? I Do not believe in them.

How many times have you read a verse of the Bible, and then later that day have that verse come back to you?......... via,.... a sermon on the radio or on TV,.... or a bumper sticker,..... or had a friend or loved one call or come by and have it come up in their conversation,.... or saw something outside in Gods" creation that brings the verse back to you.

I write these down in my Bible, and I have many examples in that Blessed Book.
I have read a certain verse or portion of the Bible, and then the same day heard it by two other different people preaching that same section in the Bible. During those times, however it happens, I feel the Holy Spirit all over me. And I feel such a closeness to God, It is a wonderful gift from The Lord. It is Him speaking to me.

Also I am sure that if in multiple ways a verse comes to me, God must really want me to learn the lesson he is trying to share with me, another good reason to write them down.

Three years ago I recieved an email story from a friend, I read about the first three lines of it but was at work and had to finish reading it later. I took a little yellow post-it note and wrote down a Bible verse quoted in the begining of the story, I took that verse and opened my work Bible and stuck it on one of the pages and then shut my Bible, and would look up that verse later.

I later finished that email story which was one of the most touching things I have ever read. Another verse near the end of the story, that was sort of the moral of the story, really hit me hard, really moving me, and I wanted to read it from my Bible. The passage was from" the book of Jeremiah" but the email did not say where in Jeremiah, but I was determend to find it, I knew it was somewhere in those 52 chapters . As I started turning the pages to Jeremiah searching for the verse I had read, I saw that yellow post-it note sticker sticking partly out of the Bible. I had forgotten that I had written down that other verse from the begining of that story down on it, and stuck it in there. I started to get that Holy Ghost Is about to pour down on me feeling, I knew what was about to happen. I just sat there a minute and reveled in the Glory of our Awesome Lord, and His Power, Majesty, and Mystery. Kind of like Peter, John and James during the Tranfiguration, they did not want to come off that mountain....... I lifted up that post-it note and underneath it was, of couse, the verse I was searching for--Jeremiah 29:11.... The feeling I had is indescribable, and I did not want it to leave.

Someday, praise God,....... it never will.

Tomahawk: finished, well almost

Here is the almost finished product. We shaved the hickory stick with a knife, then split one end apx. 3 inches into the shaft to be able to place the axe head. You can used a table saw to do this, or a plan hand saw, which we used. Then try to slide the gate hinge into it as in the picture below. You may have to make the split a little wider to fit the axe head, we used a drill bit to ever so carefully make it wider, by moving the bit inside the split, back and forth shaving either side. Be careful to fit the head often during this, you do not want the head loose, it should fit very snug, we tapped our a few times with a hammer and it went right in. Again be carefull doing this so you do not crack the wood handle.

After the axe head is fit tightly in the split, you can wrap rawhide,( or leather boot laces )around the axe head in a criss-cross fashionto secure the head. Plier help here to really pull the leather tight. Tie off the leather with a couple of tight knots. If you get the leather wet it usually dries and makes the fit even tighter.

If you notice the circular hinge pin hole on the broad end of the "tomahawk", we will hack saw that off, and use a grinder to give it a sharp edge, then touch-up with some black paint. (some parents may want to keep the hinge pin hole on there for safety purposes).

So for about 10 dollars total including leather boot laces, it is a fun activity to make with the kids, and the boys will love it, maybe the girls too.

p.s. these are new to the farm, we finally got a picture of them.

Which hand?

The world extends many hands to us to grasp. To lead us on this journey through life.

I am grasping, holding on to, and never letting go, of The Hand with the nail holes in it.

Victory is Assured

"They will fight against you, but they will not overcome you, for I am with you to deliver you," declares the Lord." Jeremiah 1:19

Who will fight against us???????? At one time or another, possibly, just about anything.

  1. Our sin nature
  2. family
  3. friends
  4. "the world"
  5. our own bodies
  6. name it...........

Satan will use anything he can to cause us to stumble, hoping to have us fall away from our faith in Jesus. But satans schemes will not work, why? Because--"It is finished." We already have victory over it all,... every yoke broken,.... every captive set free,.... every bondage busted, through the finished work at the cross. We must have faith in that, and accept that victory. It is there waiting.

"but they will not overcome you, for I am with you to deliver you."

Tomahawk

Zeke, God-willing will turn 8 on Feb, 16th, he is a huge help to the whole family around the house. We are not the kind of people whom spend alot of money on birthdays, or any day for that matter, but birthdays are very special to us, and most importantly we try to spend time together and thank God for that time.

Mr. Zeke and all the kids love the show Daniel Boone from the 1960's, so for his birthday we are making him tomahawks, like the ones used on the show.

It is very easy to do, and cost effective also.
It only costs about 11 dollars total, here are the supplies needed:

  1. wood for the handles, perferably hickory, but any sturdy wood will do. Lengths of the wood can range from about 8 inches to about 16, with the diameter of the wood should be about the diameter of your average hammer.
  2. leather straps or leather shoe laces to secure to axe head.
  3. here is the cool part, the tomahawk head, Menards ( or probably any hardware store) for just over 8 dollars I bought a two pack of outdoor gate hinges, that are exactly the shape of tomahawk axe head.

Well, this is a two-parter, pictures and the finished product tomorrow, we are going into to town to vote-------you should too! have a nice day!

I love her faith

17 So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days.
18Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles off;
19and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary, to console them concerning their brother.
20Martha therefore, when she heard that Jesus was coming, went to meet Him, but Mary stayed at the house.
21Martha then said to Jesus, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.
22"Even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You."
23Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again."
24Martha said to Him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day."
25Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies,
26and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?"
27She said to Him, "Yes, Lord; I have believed that You are the Christ, the Son of God, even He who comes into the world." John11:17-27

Every time I read this story I am moved.. Martha had great faith in what Jesus could do in her life. As I read her say,"Even now I know that whatever you ask of God, God will give it to you." She did not care what the circumstances looked like, she ran to Jesus whom she knew had all power and dominion to change any situation no matter how bleak the world saw the situation. ------ "Do you believe this?"

Homeschooling and Music

Many people ask what do you do about music classes or what if your child wants to be in band.

Good question. Our children hear and or, sing praise music throughout the day in our house. My wife plays the piano, and I play the guitar and it is a part of our everyday lives, praising The Lord. Our kids have been sang to since in utero, and literally thousands of hours walking them to sleep or before naps, again it is a constant in the house. And it is a blessed thing to hear the kids as they are off alone somewhere playing and singing praise all by themselves.

My wife and I will teach what we know musically to any, and or, all ours whom would like to learn. If they take an intrest to "other instruments", we will first go to our church to ask for help from the church members that might like to help, or other homeschoolers we know that play various instruments. As a Christian I would thoroughly check into any music store teaching and teachers before going that route.

Many public school districts must let your children attend band or various other activities if your a taxpayer in that district, if you so choose. We would rather not at this time.

For home guitar lessons, for the teach yourself people, you can download thousands of " guitar tabs", that are easy to learn finger placings and strum patterns for just about any song ever written. These are very helpful, and is how I learned...Christianguitar.org is a very helpful site for this.

Children want to sing naturally, it is in their soul to sing praises to God. It does not take much prodding to get it to come out. Start early on in their lives with singing and that seems to build a natural foundation for instrument capabilities later. Simple praise songs strengthen vocal cords, tunes their ears, and are a great blessing for the whole family to take part in.

Personally I love to sing, and I do it all the time, unfortunately, only The Lord and my children like the sound of my voice, which is why I play guitar.
